Qt-interest Archive, January 2001 Re: What's Qt stand for? --------------------------------------- hehe, ever read Isaak Asimov's "I Robot" ? :-)
--------------------------------------- Several times, but I don´t remember "Qt" used there... It is intersting, what different interpretations of "Qt" pop up here. Especially after one of the Trolls pointed out, that "t" stands for Toolkit and "Q" stands ... ummm ... for Q, mainly because Q was not used for anything up to this date ;).
But hang on, maybe there even will be a FAQ about the 1000 meanings of Qt ;). --------------------------------------- How about Quality? --------------------------------------- I also asked this same question when I started using Qt. I was told before that it actually doesn't have a definite meaning. Qt was coined from another old toolkit, Xt. Since the letter Q has not been used yet for naming class (i.e CString), it was used to start this toolkit's class naming like QString. Then it was named Qt.
I got this explanation from TrollTech. Just correct me further if I narrated it differently. --------------------------------------- Wow, cool. You wrote nearly the same like me, as you could read in your fullquote (which contains the fullquote of my mail)... --------------------------------------- Finish the thread now! All was already answered by Arndt Gulbrandson here.
BTW: If you not already know: The name Qt comes from: { goto start; }
